QC-LGU GETS DOST-NCR RECOGNITION FOR SUPPORT, COMMITMENT OF TECH & INNOVATION DEVT PROGRAMS (iSTART) AS SMART CITY

 

The Quezon City Government has received recognition from the Department of Science and Technology - National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) for its efforts, support and commitment in the implementation of the Innovation, Science and Technology for Accelerating Regional Technology-Based Development (iSTART) Program and Smart City in Quezon City.

QC Mayor Joy Belmonte had tasked PESO manager Rogelio L. Reyes to receive the Plaque of Recognition for the city government from the DOST-NCR in a simple ceremony today, August 30, held at SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, at the start of the 2023 Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Week in NCR.


Under the leadership of Mayor Joy Belmonte, the Quezon City Government had initiated some technology-driven initiatives and programs that had developed and improved the quality of public service to city residents. Some of these programs include the digital tax payment, QC ID for residents, assistance for displaced workers through Alagang QC, etc,

QUEZON CITY'S FIRST SOCIAL SOLIDARITY ECONOMY ENGAGEMENT FORUM: A VISION OF SOLIDARITY INTO REALITY

  Photos from PAISD/Quezon City Government Representatives from 31 social entrepreneur (SE) groups and 8 supporting organizations have committed to turn a vision of solidarity into reality at the first Social Solidarity Economy Engagement Forum. The event, conducted by Quezon City Public Employment Service Office (PESO), took place at the Quezon City Executive Lounge, High Rise Building, Quezon City Hall last April 21, 2023. The concept of SSE Social solidarity economy (SSE) refers to economic practices that focus on social profitability over solely financial gains. Anyone involved is such activities is encouraged to actively participate in making decisions. QC LGU, DOST-NCR TO COLLABORATE IN IMPLEMENTING iSTART PROGRAM IN QC

  The Quezon City Government and the Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreeing to work jointly and collaborate in implementing the iSTART Program in the city.   The DOST Regional Offices are implementing the Innovation, Science and Technology for Accelerating Regional Technology Based Development (iSTART) Program. The MOU would enable the DOST-NCR to mainstream STI (Science, Technology and Innovation) in existing development plans, and/or to create a separate STI Plan supplementary to its existing development plans outlining the technology-based projects in the city. Under the MOU, a city-level technical working group (TWG) will be formed and created to coordinate with the QC LGU and DOST in undertaking the iSTART project.
