QC LGU, DOST-NCR TO COLLABORATE IN IMPLEMENTING iSTART PROGRAM IN QC
The Quezon City Government and the Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreeing to work jointly and collaborate in implementing the iSTART Program in the city.
The DOST Regional Offices are implementing the Innovation, Science and Technology for Accelerating Regional Technology Based Development (iSTART) Program.
The MOU would enable the DOST-NCR to mainstream STI (Science, Technology and Innovation) in existing development plans, and/or to create a separate STI Plan supplementary to its existing development plans outlining the technology-based projects in the city.
Under the MOU, a city-level technical working group (TWG) will be formed and created to coordinate with the QC LGU and DOST in undertaking the iSTART project.
The iSTART Program seeks to develop a comprehensive STI Plan that will be identified by studying current Comprehensive Development Plans (CDP), Comprehensive Land Use Plan, Annual Investment Plans, Sectoral Development Plans, and other Local Development Plans present in the city.
On behalf of Mayor Joy Belmonte, PESO manager Rogelio L. Reyes and The Joy of Urban Farming (JOUF) head Ms. Tina Perez represented the city government during the ceremony held today, August 30, 2023, at SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang and DOST-NCR Regional Director Romelen Tresvalles were present in the occasion.
The DOST-NCR gave the Quezon City Government a Plaque of Recognition for its effort and cooperation in implementing Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Programs in the city as a smart city.
