QC MRC Holds Capacity-Building Workshop for Case and Database Management

The Quezon City Migrant Resource Center (QC MRC) recently held a workshop that added knowledge and skills on the case and database management to Help Desk staff and representatives of the Migrant and Development Council from other departments of the city government, as well as those from the District Action office.

The workshop was conducted to enable the participants to learn the process of how to properly respond to OFWs or migrant workers who seek assistance from MRC and other city offices. It would also help them create a unified communication or connectivity between each department regarding information taken from migrant workers that they have assisted.

The workshop also aims to improve and expand the capability to gather information and data on migrant workers taken by the MRC as well as from the different city departments and district action offices.

The capacity-building workshop was held last January 24 at the 2nd Floor, conference hall of the QC Public Library. A total of 37 participants attended the activity. The participants came from the city departments that included PESO, Social Services Development Department (SSDD), City Planning and Development Department (CPDD), and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), among others.

PESO manager Rogelio L. Reyes welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of an efficient and organized system in providing assistance and responding to the needs of the city’s migrant workers.

Ms. Marie Allyssa Dacasin, National Project Coordinator (NPC)-ILO bridge programme, gave an overview and discussed the objectives of the workshop while Mr. Rex Varona, NPC ILO Safe and Fair Programme, talked about the CLIENT Framework.

Ms. Ellene Sana, Executive Director, of the Center for Migrant Advocacy (CMA), and Ms Anna Navarro, a case worker from CMA, discussed the Gender-responsive case management concepts and procedures with participants.

The participants later formed themselves into groups for the workshop activity.

The activity ended with closing remarks from Mr. Sherwin Acuzar of the Migration Services Division of PESO. ###
