QC Mayor Joy Belmonte Enjoins Everyone in Inclusive Climate Action, Empowers Informal Workers

BARANGAY BAGONG SILANGAN BAGS DOST 2023 BEST CEST AWARD IN NCR

Barangay Bagong Silangan from District 2 in Quezon was awarded the Best Community Empowerment Through Science and Technology (CEST) beneficiary in the NCR with Two hundred thousand pesos (PhP200,000) in financial aid for its project. Barangay Bagong Silangan will vie for the National Best CEST award. The award was given in a simple ceremony during the Stakeholders Night of the DOST-NCR 2023 Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Week held in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. QC LGU, DOST-NCR TO COLLABORATE IN IMPLEMENTING iSTART PROGRAM IN QC

  The Quezon City Government and the Department of Science and Technology-National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreeing to work jointly and collaborate in implementing the iSTART Program in the city.   The DOST Regional Offices are implementing the Innovation, Science and Technology for Accelerating Regional Technology Based Development (iSTART) Program. The MOU would enable the DOST-NCR to mainstream STI (Science, Technology and Innovation) in existing development plans, and/or to create a separate STI Plan supplementary to its existing development plans outlining the technology-based projects in the city. Under the MOU, a city-level technical working group (TWG) will be formed and created to coordinate with the QC LGU and DOST in undertaking the iSTART project.   The Quezon City Government has received recognition from the Department of Science and Technology - National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) for its efforts, support and commitment in the implementation of the Innovation, Science and Technology for Accelerating Regional Technology-Based Development (iSTART) Program and Smart City in Quezon City. ILO DIR GEN VISITS QC MIGRANTS RESOURCE CENTER

  International Labour Organization (ILO) Director General Gilbert Houngbo has visited the Quezon City government’s Migrant Resource Center (QC MRC) on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, coinciding with the 75th Anniversary of the country’s membership to the United Nations (UN) agency mandated to safeguard social and economic justice by setting international labor standards. The partnership between the Quezon City government and the ILO was strengthened with the signing of partnership last year through BRIDGE and Safe and Fair Programmes, funded by the Multi-Partner Trust Fund and the European Union. The Quezon City Migrants Resource Center (QC MRC) was established through the enactment of City Ordinance SP-2500 with the aim to serve more than 180,000 migrant workers who reside in the city. Matamis at kapaki-pakinabang ang isinagawang pagdiriwang ng World Bee Day sa Quezon Memorial Circle nitong Mayo 19, sa kolaborasyon ng Beengo Farm, Quezon City Public Employment Service Office, pangasiwaan ng Quezon Memorial Circle, The Joy of Urban Farming, katuwang ang Concentrix. Ito ang unang pagdaos ng World Bee Day ng isang LGU sa Pilipinas. Ipinaliwanag ni Mr Gary Ayuste, founder ng Beengo Farm, ang kahalagahan ng pag-aalaga ng mga bubuyog. “Karamihan po ng pagkain at damit natin ay naka-depend sa kanila. Ganoon kalaki ang industriya ng pag-aalaga ng mga bubuyog.” sabi niya.
